Paul Gascoigne: Jury continue deliberations on Thursday in sexual assault trial

The jury at the trial of former soccer star Paul Gascoigne, who is accused of sexually assaulting a woman on a railway, could continue their deliberations.
Even the midfielder denies the offence, saying that he kissed the stranger to improve her confidence once he heard someone call her fat, and it was not sexual.
The jury, that were sent out Wednesday, were advised they can consider a lesser count of assault when they clean him of sexual assault by beating.
Teesside Crown Court has heard the complainant was about a York to Newcastle train in August 2018 when Gascoigne, that had been loudly and swearing, drunkenly sat down next to her, tapped her arm, grabbed her by the cheeks and planted a sloppy kiss on her lips.
In her final address to the jury Michelle Heeley QC, defending, told jurors the former footballer kissed a girl who was not expecting it and didnt like it, however that did not make him a sexual offender.
Speaking about the alternate charge, she explained:You might believe, 14 months following this incident, this is a really sexual assault, or nothing.
Due to his illustrious international career, she stated a kiss can mean a lot of things, including a partyif you score a few of the best aims England has ever observed, against Scotland in Euro96.
She said the kiss lasted two or three moments, on a packed train, and wasnt preceded with anylecherous remark, touching or groping.
Miss Heeley said:You cannot be sure Mr Gascoigne had a sexual intent.
He has been persistent throughout, he did not kiss (the complainant) for another reason in his head than to reassure her that she was not fat or ugly.
She stated it might have beenmisplaced, however it wasnt sexual.
In his final speech, prosecutor William Mousley QC said Gascoigne had lied about that someone had mistreated the girl, and what happened.
He explained:There is a clear reason as to why he cried and that is because he knows hes guilty of sexual attack but wishes to install a smokescreen, lead to a diversion, suggest it was not as it obviously was.
Mr Mousley stated of the kiss:Either it was an unpleasant assault, also it was a act of kindness. Guilty if the former, not guilty if it had been the latter
After she had been kissed, the woman, who cannot be named, was shocked and a fellow passenger challenged Gascoigne, saying:What youve just done is sexual abuse.
Police later traced Gascoigne to a hotel in Jesmond, Newcastle, also when an officer spoke to him on the phone, before detain, the footballer explained:I understand what it is around, I kissed a fat lass.
If he gave evidence, Gascoigne said he was hoping to guarantee his alleged victim later he claimed to have overheard somebody say of herYou do not need a photograph with her, she is ugly and fat.
He spoke of his battle bullying suffered by relatives and struggles with bulimia.
Gascoigne stated he came and sat next to this girl, telling hertake no notice of what they state andlisten, youre not fat and nasty.
He denied being drunk at the moment, telling the jury that he had undergone a surgery in Australia to have pellets implanted into his gut which would make himspew up when he drank spirits.
The defence showed Gascoignes jury pictures kissing and being kissed by other folks, such as footballers Steve Bull, Ian Wright, Ally McCoist and Wayne Rooney, as well Diana, Princess of Wales.
The court heard character references from his alcohol therapist and Jane Couch, former boxers Ricky Hatton and his agent Mel Stein, which talked of Gascoigne regularly kissing folks.
