Advertise in top form for Ascot
Martyn Meade believes Advertise is in the form of his Lifetime Before the Qipco British Champions Sprint in Ascot.
The Showcasing colt will be bidding before landing the Prix Maurice de Gheest with won the Commonwealth Cup within the course and distance at the Royal meeting.
A scope ruled him from last month’s Sprint Cup at Haydock, but of passing up a trip to 26, the upside is the fact he will line up on Qipco British Champions Day as a new horse.
“He appears to be in really good shape in the home – I believe he’s as great as he’s ever been,” said Meade.
“I can’t believe how many are running. After all the rain I thought we could wind up with five or six runners and we really have 17, but it’s hopefully the best horse could win and what it is.
“We have not over-raced him this year, he has had a wonderful break because Deauville and has bolstered up nicely.
“I don’t think the ground is going to be a problem. There are some other very good horses in the racebut we’re positive and hoping for a good run.”
The William Haggas-trained One Guru returns after defending her crown.
“I think she’ll enjoy the ground and she seems very well because winning the Foret,” stated the Newmarket handler.
“We are coming back in excursion, but if they move hard and fade, hopefully she’ll be completing carefully.
“The 13-day gap between her races is not perfect, but she has had only four runs and enjoys soft earth.”
A strong hands is possessed by kevin Ryan, with his Sprint Cup hero Hi Youmzain combined by his stablemate Brando.
Ryan said:”Hi Youmzain is a kid, just three, and we’ve minded him this past year. Hopefully that can pay dividends. He is a very exciting horse and there is no reason why he can’t improve and get stronger next year.
“Brando is a veteran warrior that turns up for every big occasion and runs his race. He has run well in the race is a celebrity – a marvellous horse who retains his form.”
The last three winners of the race are in the area , using 2016 hero 2017 victor Librisa Breeze The Tin Man and defending champion Sands Of Mali all declared.
The Tin Man returns in fine form, having produced his very best performance of the year to date when a second to Hi Youmzain at Haydock last month.
“He’s been a regular in the race and then won it after. He is fit and fresh heading into this moment,” said Fanshawe.
“I was so pleased he raced so well (in Haydock) and he has come out of it very nicely.
“I always believed he wanted better floor, but he handles soft ground as well as anybody else and a lot of his relations adore it”
Librisa Breeze has run once so far this season, filling the spot in the Hungerford Stakes at Newbury in August.
Trainer Dean Ivory explained:”It’s been just two decades since he won it, of course, and we’ve had a great deal of ups and downs, as you do using these sprinters, but I’m hopeful after his Hungerford run.
“The ground might be on the heavy side for him personally, but who knows? It’ll be lovely merely to see him that race again.”
There are in Denis Hogan’s Make A Challenge four Irish challengers, Aidan O’Brien’s So Perfect, the Joseph O’Brien-trained Chat In Colours and Permanently In Adventures from the lawn of Aidan Fogarty.
Make A Challenge has already enjoyed an outstanding effort – after winning six of his 10 starts in 2019, rising from a mark of simply 66 to his mark of 111 recently dominating his competitors in a Recorded contest .
“I am excited and nervous. We’ll see how we proceed,” said Hogan.
“It’s a big request and a step up in class, but he deserves to be there.
“I am happy with the floor, the draw and the jockey and I am really happy with the horse – that I would not be running otherwise.
“I’m looking forward to it as I believe he’ll adore the ailments.”
After finishing second from the Prix de l’Abbaye in ParisLongchamp and the Flying Five in the Curragh on her final two starts, so Perfect measures back up in space.
O’Brien stated:”She has run some terrific races over five (furlongs) for her past few starts. We always thought she’d have six and she’s run well in the past over it.
“Her kind recently has been improved over five and I guess it has six furlongs in gentle earth that you’d have at the back of your mind.
“She seems to be in good shape, though. Donnacha is riding Chat In Colours to get Joseph, therefore Seamus (Heffernan) rides her.”
