Keselowski Favored to Win Daytona 500

The 60th edition of the wonderful American Race is set for this Sunday as motorists prepare to kick off another exciting season of the Dragon Energy NASCAR Cup Series in the Daytona 500.
Online sportsbooks are offering odds on who will take home the checkered flag, with a familiar face forcing the No. 2 Ford Fusion at the peak of the oddsboard at Brad Keselowski. BetOnline has Keselowski listed as the favorite in +700 to top the podium in Daytona.
A Driver Hasn’t Won The Daytona 500 In Back-To-Back Years Since Sterling Marlin Accomplished The Feat In 1994 And 1995.
He had three first-place finishes last season and will be starting in the 19th position on the track. It is worth noting that Keselowski hasn’t finished higher than third in this race in his career.
Last year’s winner, Kurt Busch, is listed at +2200 to win the Daytona 500 again although the likelihood of a duplicate winner makes him a huge long shot. A driver hasn’t won this race back-to-back years because Sterling Marlin achieved the feat in 1994 and 1995.
Joe Gibbs Racing has two drivers near the top of the oddsboard in Denny Hamlin and Kyle Busch. Hamlin, listed at +1000, won in 2016 in what is thought to be the most striking finish ever in the Daytona 500 and placed sixth in 2017. He won just two races last year so if bettors are not persuaded by his achievements, then they may want to consider his teammate.
Busch is recorded at +1200 and has yet to break through at this race but he did make it to the podium at 2016 when he finished third. The younger Busch brother won five races last season to go along with nine other top-five finishes.
Alex Bowman could be a popular alternative as he replaced Dale Earnhardt Jr. at the 88 car and certainly will be in the pole position on Sunday. However, the pole winner has not won the Daytona because Dale Jarrett at 2000 so there is a motive Bowman is listed at +2800.
Finally, the driver that won the inaugural Monster Energy NASCAR Cup, Martin Truex Jr., is listed at +1400. Truex finished second in this race in 2016 and has been dominant last season, posting five wins among the whopping 19 top-five finishes. If momentum is any factor, Truex might be in line to win his first Daytona 500 in his profession.
