WBSS final: Josh Taylor vows to prove he is best in world vs Regis Prograis
Josh Taylor thinks he will prove he is the greatest 140lbs fighter in the world by beating Regis Prograis in London.
Taylor faces fellow world champion Prograis in the final of the World Boxing Super Series final at The O2 on October 26, live on Sky Sports Box Office.
‘The Tartan Tornado’ will place his IBF belt while southpaw Prograis threats his WBA’Super’ and WBC Diamond belts in an effort to land the coveted Muhammad Ali Trophy.
“I’m looking forward to it. First time here fighting here at London, headlining in The O2, therefore I’m pure enthusiastic for this. I can not wait,” said Taylor (15-0, KOs 12).
“I’m completely confident in the fight. I believe I’m bigger than him, even stronger than him, quicker than him and that I punch equally as hard as himso I believe I can beat him in each department.
“If he comes to walk down, I think I’ll walk him right into a shooter and then get him out of there. If not, he can be outboxed by me which I’m completely confident I could win this fight.
“I think Regis and myself would be # 1 and No 2 in the division and we’re the two guys to beat and we are going to establish it on October 26.
“That is my moment to shine and I can not see him beating at all. I am super convinced.”
Since turning pro in 2012, new Orleans-born Prograis, who’s awakened 24 wins, 20 inside the space, is determined to grab the chance.
“Most boxers don’t get this opportunity in a lifetime and we are getting this opportunity right now. You’ve got four things online; the title WBA, his name, IBF, the Ali Trophy as well as The Ring Magazine name this is on the line.
“I had a late start but a lot of fighters were fighting 20, 30 decades and never get this chance, so for me it’s like a chance of a life. That is my personal legacy, this is history at the moment and to be doing this I am ecstatic, I can not wait.
“No 1 and No 2, you do not get this, two undefeated fighters in their prime that are winners. This is a series that is huge and I’m eager to be part of it.
“He’s taller than me, he’s longer than me, but, for me personally, none of that stuff matters. I really can’t see ways to beat on me. Not to be cocky or arrogant but that I can not find out how he can beat me.”
